Equipment
Swim Attire

At practice, swimsuits should be form fitting and one piece. For boys, this means jammers and not bathing trunks. For girls, this means a simple one piece suit without any tutus or ties. A loose fitting suit not only makes you swim slower, but actually makes swimming difficult. We will also have a team suit available for purchase, which should be worn at all team meets.
If the water is cold, a wetsuit may be worn.
Caps
Each swimmer will receive a team cap. Caps are required to be worn at swim meets. Swimmers with hair longer than their eyebrows are required to wear a cap at practice. They may wear a cap of their choice at practice, it does not need to be our team cap.
Coaches are happy to help swimmers put on their caps if they need assistance. "Can you cap me?" is a common question on the pool deck!
Goggles

There is a wide variety of goggles on the market. Swim goggles should only cover the eyes; they should not cover the nose, cheeks, or forehead.
An example of good goggles are Speedo's Hydrospex. These are a comfortable option for new or young swimmers.

Speedo's Vanquishers are also a popular goggle choice amongst swimmers. They work reliably for kids learning how to swim all the way up to swimmers competing in the Olympics. Look out for their "Youth" sizes or their “optical” line for swimmers who wear glasses.
Other Equipment
We strongly encourage every swimmer to bring a reusable water bottle with their name on it. Often, swimmers don’t notice how much they sweat due to being in the water. Please be sure to not have a glass water bottle; no glass is allowed on the pool deck.
We will use kickboards a lot. You do not need to buy a kickboard as the AJCC has plenty on hand. If your swimmer would like their own kickboard they are welcome to do so. All personal items need to have the swimmer's last name on it.
We will not use any fins, paddles, snorkels, or pull buoys this season.
