Swimming Tips
Hello, Smokin’ Salmon parents!
I’ve created this tab to provide optional at-home resources for our swimmers to use outside of practice. Here, I’ll share helpful videos that I recommend watching with your child, regardless of age.
YouTube can be a great resource for learning proper swim technique through slow-motion stroke demonstrations, skill breakdowns, and instructional tips. These videos can help reinforce what we work on during practice and support your swimmer’s development in the water.
Breaststroke Timing Breakdown
Breaststroke is a deceptively challenging stroke to learn. Not only do swimmers need to master each individual component—the pull, kick, and breath—but they also need to coordinate them into an efficient rhythm.
The video below does an excellent job of breaking down breaststroke timing through a series of simple, progressive drills. Proper timing is one of the most important aspects of a successful breaststroke, and these drills can help swimmers develop the correct sequence and feel for the stroke.
